University School of Milwaukee Upper School students were invited to join a virtual panel discussion with alumni and community members who work in the field of communication. The panel featured Marcia Johnston MUS’60, award-winning journalist and Medill School of Journalism professorship advisor; Angela Pittman Taylor ’96, public relations manager at Baird; and Kelly Christiansen Wabiszewski ’01, brand consultant and copywriter.
Panelists shared advice for students, which included taking advantage of internship opportunities both at USM and in college, networking as much as possible, saying yes to every opportunity, and being open and willing to trying new things.
The panel discussion is part of a series of events that feature individuals from various careers, who discuss how they got to where they are today, what they do on a daily basis, and any tips they have for students interested in that field. The event was hosted by USM’s College Guidance and Alumni offices and the school’s Internship and Shadowing program.
