Middle School

University School of Milwaukee offers students a challenging and diverse academic program that acknowledges the developmental needs of young students during their Middle School years in grades five through eight. Our state-of-the-art classrooms provide exciting environments for the latest educational approaches, which creates a setting where students acquire the 21st-century skills they will need to move forward: collaboration, communication, community, and technology.

Middle School students learn how to handle a growing academic and extracurricular schedule and take courses in nine different fields of study each year. Core courses consist of English, mathematics, science, social studies, and a world language. Courses in art, music, drama, and physical education are also part of the Middle School curriculum. Educational technology is an integral part of the teaching and learning process in all Middle School grades.

The Middle School learning environment is conducive to community building. In addition to larger, recently renovated classrooms, a maker space, and a study hall, the Middle School Commons is a space where students can gather to work on group projects and socialize. The Commons is also home to the Wildcat Den, the Middle School After School Program that offers a safe and secure setting for homework and special activities.
At USM, there are so many experiences that you can have, there are so many extracurricular activities ... you'll find what's perfect for you.
