What should visiting students wear?
Preschool (visiting prekindergarten or junior kindergarten)
Children may wear play clothes for their prekindergarten parent/child visit and for their junior kindergarten Preschool play group.
Lower School (visiting kindergarten-grade 4)
Dress student visitors in good taste (no blue jeans please) for their visit. Visitors to Lower School will go outside for recess, unless conditions are extreme. Please send along a coat, gloves, hat, snow pants, and boots, as necessary. Students should wear or bring a pair of gym shoes, as they will be participating in physical education.
Middle School (visiting grades 5-8)
The Middle School uniform includes a navy blue blazer, khaki slacks or a skirt for girls, collared shirt, and a tie for boys. Visitors are not required to wear the school uniform, but we ask prospective students to dress in good taste (no blue jeans please). It is probable that the student guide will have physical education the day of the visit; so please wear or bring athletic shoes.
Upper School (visiting grades 9-12)
Our Upper School dress code includes a navy blue blazer, khaki slacks or a skirt for girls, white button-down shirt, and a tie for boys. Visiting students are not required to wear the school uniform, but we ask prospective students to dress in good taste (no blue jeans please).
What should students bring?
Visiting students will be our guests for lunch and sit with their student guide in the dining room, therefore it is not necessary to bring a lunch. Students visiting in grades 5-12 should bring a book to read.
How will my son or daughter know where to go?
Visiting students will be paired with a USM student guide for the day. The guide’s main responsibilities are to help the visitor feel comfortable by introducing him/her to other students and faculty, helping at lunchtime, and answering questions about USM.
