Athletic Program Honors

"We don't chase wins, we build programs." That has been the mantra of the University School of Milwaukee Athletic Department, as the School has implemented a program built on a positive, educational-based athletics model. That philosophy has been rewarded through on-field success and several program awards and honors.

In August 2013, USM was named one of two recipients of the 2013 Interscholastic Sports Program of Excellence award by Coach and Athletic Director magazine, honoring the nation's best programs for "promoting integrity, sportsmanship in athletics, and a positive experience for student-athletes."

The department garnered a pair of honors in June for a stellar 2013-2014 season, as USM tied Wisconsin Lutheran for the Boys' Athletic Program of the Year, awarded by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Through the Journal Sentinel's ranking system which awards points based on state championships, semifinal, and quarterfinal finishes, USM sat atop the boys' rankings with Wisconsin Lutheran, accruing 17 points. USM finished second overall, behind Arrowhead High School.

USM also claimed the Wisconsin Sports Network Cup for the 2013-2014 season in the Small School Division. The cup recognizes schools that provide and achieve success in most boys and girls WIAA sponsored sports. USM edged out Regis High School for this distinction.
